The Sodshow wins Best Irish Podcast 2012

You might remember some time ago I was featured as song of the week on The Sodshow, Ireland’s garden radio show and podcast. The song they chose was of course Haul Away. Well apart from the fact that they have great taste in music, it comes as no surprise that the hugely popular show went on to win the title and award of Irelands Best Podcast for 2012.

Irish born and bred and presented by Peter Donegan and Niall O’Keeffe I think it is a really wonderful achievement for the duo. Standing ovation, round of applause and very well done lads.

Why not pop across to sodshow.com, give it a listen and/ or subscribe to the podcast. It airs live every Friday and is also available as Podcast in the iTunes store under SodShow or get it via The SodShow website.

Martin Byrne – The Live Music Sessions, The Collection

I’ve always wanted to do a collection of songs, not as such an album, but more a collection of songs recorded and noted. Music albums are absolutely great and as well you know, I do love my singing. But you know when you want to see and equally do something just that little bit different…. ? With that in mind, the idea to record The Live Music Sessions was an extremely logic step to take.

It’s fair to say that it’s is a long way from the safety of the recording studios and whilst it great knowing that you have a copy of the My Ireland CD in your home, part of me was also very aware of you with whom I have not shook hands with and have not yet managed to see me play live.

Personally, I always feel the two go hand in hand…. knowing the recorded, just makes that live performance that little bit sweeter.

note: The above video plays all of the Live Music Sessions songs without you having to leave this post.

Martin Byrne meets The SodShow on 103.2 Dublin City FM

garden radio show ireland

For those who may not be aware Dublin [Irelands ?] only Garden Radio Show, The SodShow today will be broadcasting today from Ballyboughal’s Pitch and Putt Club.

Why is this relevant to you, my friends, the music people and what on earth has a gardening radio show got to do with Martin Byrne ?

The #SodShow meets Ballyboughal Pitch and Putt Club. Dublin’s Only Garden Radio Show. (mp3)

Well, it’s a bit of an Irish answer, but here goes: Ronnie Delaney who runs The Fingal Folk Club is also heads up Fingal’s finest pitch and putt club.

Every week The SodShow does a song of the week and this week presenters Peter and Brian asked guest Ronnie to pick the song. Ronnie chose a track from my album, My Ireland.
